Frequently asked questions
Our sport medicine physicians can diagnose your problem, order any tests if necessary, and prescribe appropriate treatments and medications. Guiding you back to your activity is also an integral part of your treatment plan that the physician can assist you with. Our physicians will communicate with the referring physician regarding your diagnosis and treatment plan.
A referral from a physician is required for a consultation with a sport medicine physician. Exceptions may be made if your injury is a new acute sport-related injury. We will communicate with your referring physician regarding the plan for your care. Call the clinic for further information regarding how you can set up an appointment for your specific problem.
You do not need to see a medical doctor before you see a physiotherapist, massage therapist or dietitian. However, some extended health care insurance plans require a physician referral for reimbursements purposes. You may obtain that referral from your treating physician, your family physician or our sport medicine physicians.
Our physiotherapists specialize in the treatment of sport and orthopaedic problems by helping you regain motion, reduce pain and achieve specific performance goals. A variety of techniques are used including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, IMS/dry needling, active release therapy and acupuncture. Our goal is to help you regain your functional ability and improve your quality of life.

Quebec patients will need to pay for their visit and will be given the appropriate paperwork to get reimbursed through the REGIS.
Most physician services are covered by OHIP with some exceptions. We follow the guidelines of the Ontario Medical Association for non-insured services. The physician will let you know in advance if a proposed service is not covered and the fees involved.
Physiotherapy, Massage therapy and Registered Dietitian services are covered by most extended health plans. Check with your provider for specific information on the benefits available to you. We are now able to direct bill for Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy and Dietitian services through Telus e-claims! You only pay for the portion of your visit that is not covered! For more information go to www.telus.com/eclaims to see if your insurer participates.
We require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Since time was specifically reserved for you, there will be a fee for not showing up for your appointment or for failing to provide adequate notice. Missed appointments are lost opportunities for other patients who may require more immediate assistance and thus waste valuable health care resources.
